workdone = F.d = Fdcos@

 

here in this case @ = 0 , d = h , F = mg (weight of body )

 

so , work = (mg)(H) = mgH

work done = Force * displacement 

here force acting on this object of mass m is gravitational force that is mg and the  displacement taken is h

Hence work done = mg * h

                          = mgh
