A simple pendulum has a certain periodic time.What would happen if the pendulum is oscillating in a lift which is stationary and suddenly starts going up..will the oscillations die instantly? pls explain??

Dear Shivam

Apply a pseudo force on pendulum. initially downward force was mg only now downward  force will be mg+ma. as peudo force acts opposite to the direction of accelerating frame.

now just replace g by g+a called geffective in the expression of time period. so it wont die instantly but time period will be reduced as g comes in the denominator
