When friction supplies the force that accelerates the object.

Tires on an accelerating car (Friction between tires and road)

Box dropping onto a moving belt (Friction between box and belt)

A runner at the start of a race (Friction between shoes and ground)

Swimmer at start of race (Feet to edge of pool)

when a body is rolling with some angular velocity & no linear velocity on a frictious surface then friction force acts in foreward direction & supports the linear motion...

here friction acts as driving force & thus Kinetic energy is increased....
