Is there any relation between the total force acting on a body & the direction in which it moves? Please explain.
It is not called total force, better you can call it net force. A Body always moves in the direction in which the net force is acting on the body. Suppose a body is kept on a horizontal plane. It os being acted upon by two forces, both in the opposite directions. The first force is of 10N and the other is of 20N .So the net force is only 10N(20N-10N). The body will move in the direction of this net force.
