a particle of mass 1kg has a velocity of 2m/s. a constant force of 2 N acts on the particle for 1s in a direction perpendicular to its initial veiocity. find the velocity and displacement of the particle at the end of 1 second.

let particle is moving along x axis and force is acting along y axis....

F=ma

a=F/m=(2m/s2 ) j

v=2i                           (given)

for constant accleration we can use v=u+at and s=ut+at2 /2

after 1 sec

v=2i + 2j  = 2sqrt2 in magnitude

s=2i+ j = sqrt5 in magnitude
