Dear Bhanu prasada reddy,

IIT''s have certain order of Filling i.e., certain IIT''s are preferred over the rest and here is the preference order of the IIT''s

The older IIT''s are preferred over the new IIT''s because of the Infrastructure,the atmosphere,the faculty,the placements and much more. Here is the list by which the filling of IIT''s usually happens.

1.Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Kanpur

2.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi

3.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur

4.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai

5.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),Bombay/Mumbai

6.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee

7.Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Guwahati

8.Indian Institute of Technology(IIT),Varanasi

 

An AIR within the Top 5000 can get you a seat in these Top 8 IIT''s in the country. Below AIR 5000,then you have to settle for the New IIT''s which are least preferred.
