SNOW rule states that if the current is flowing in an electric circuit from S outh to N orth direction and a magnetic compass is placed O ver the conducting wire, the needle of the compass deflects in the direction of west. BUT HOW? By applying Right Hand thumb rule, the direction of magnetic field produced by a current flowing from south to north direction is as follows :- 1. Over the conductor, it is from west to east 2. Below the conductor it is from east to west So, when we place a magnetic compass over the conducting wire, deflection of needle should be in the direction of east as by line no.(1), which contradicts the SNOW rule. Please explain.

By applying Right Hand thumb rule, the direction of  magnetic field produced by a current flowing from south to north direction is as follows :-
1. Over the conductor, it is from west to east
2. Below the conductor it is from east to west
So, when we place a magnetic compass over the conducting wire, deflection of needle should be in the direction of east as by line no.(1), which contradicts the SNOW rule.
 Please explain.

Snow rule can be stated as: If electric current flows from South to North direction in a wire kept over a magnetic compass, then the north pole of the needle of a magnetic compass will be deflected towards West.

What you`re saying is indeed right, but doesn`t contradicts the rule. When you`re saying that the magnetic fields are directed towards east, you`re talking about the magnet-like effect produced by it.This pseuo-magnet(somewhat)has its North pole on east and South pole nearer to the compass(compared to the other pole). Now we know that same poles repel each other and unlike ones attract,we can make out that north needle will be with the false south pole and vice -versa,thus saving the SNOW rule

Snow rule state that current flowing in wire over a magnetic niddel place in direction of north to south .Due to current flowing in wire magnetic niddel deflect to the west .

Dear Student,
Please find below the solution to your problem.

Snow rule states that if the currresnt is flowing in an electric circuit from south to north directiom and a megnetic compass is placed over the conducting wire the needle of the compass deflects the direction of west
