actually the hydrous copper salt CuSO4.5H2O has a blue colour, when it is heated there is a removal of 5 mole of electron and it changes ti anhydrous form which makes it colourless.actually there is no d-d transition simply there is removal of 5 moles of water from the hydrated copper ion
