Hello Student
Ca is a metal and Cl is a non metal,
Ca has 2 electrons in its valence shell. It tends to loose these two electrons to get stable noble gas electronic configuration.
On the other hand Cl is a non metal and its is one electron short to its octet so it has very high affinity of gain one electron,
Ca looses two electrons and two Cl atoms gain one electron ach from Ca to form the salt CaCl2
