How do I memorise inorganic reactions related to fluorine/chlorine/bromine/iodine and xenon? For eg. : K2[MnF6] + 2SbF5 ---> 2K[SbF6] + MnF3 + 1/2F2 ; Which is chemical method of preparation of flourine gas. I know that SbF5 is acting as a strong lewis acid and displaces MnF4 from it's complex as it is weaker. MnF4 then decomposes to give flourine and MnF3 as it is unstable... Could there be any other easier way to remember thes kind of reactions?

Dear student,

Essentially what you are doing - making sure that you understand reaction rather than simply trying to memorise them.

Mind you this example is a bit of an oddity related to the extreme oxidising power of fluorine. Most reactions are a lot more predictable.
