dear siddharth 
you can choose mechanical branch , if u have intrest in kinematics and laws of motion , 
and nit frst of all decise the cutoff rank , it varies for every nit , starting from top nit to the lower , 
then they do councelling of candidate based on jee main ranks via josaa . 
and then , the candidate wiull fill the choice among their preference ,and then in case if the student elligible for that seat they will call for admission .
