Theminimumdeviationis the angle between the incident and emerging light ray after transmission through an object such as aprismor awater drop. The angle is also referred to as "the angle of minimum deviationThe direction of the incident beam and the orientation of the object can be varied. The value ofDcan be larger than 90degrees. One of the factors thatrainbowcan be observed is due to bunching of light rays at the minimum deviation that is close to the rainbow angle.
