there is no attachment in the question , kindly attach a image where the unit vector is written without cap . 
and also there will be a arrow symbol over the letter , tghat will represent the direction of the vector . 
and the unit vector have the same direcetion as that of the original vector . 
the only change is that it have a magnitude of 1 , so , its represent as unit vector . 
and also the cap is given for that reason .
