What is the difference between the two? Or are they just one and the same? Among these two pictures (given in the links below) which one is a ring/hoop, 1st one or 2nd one? (I hope you're able to notice the difference between the two.) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9f/Toroid_by_Zureks.svg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Torus.png

Hello Lost Brilliant,

Your question is very good.

The first one is the ring and second one is the hoop or torus. The the ring is formed when you take a rectangular rod which has length, width and height and join its two ends together to form a circle. While a hoop is formed when you take a circular rod like a thick rope or a pole and join its two ends together in form of a circle.

Hope i am able to clear your doubts.
