Consider this whole pulley a system within itself.
In this case therefore, the net acceleration becomes:
a = net force/total mass
a = (F – 12g)/(12) m/s^2.

But according to answer given in my book acceleration of 4kg is 2.5 ms-1 and acceleration of 8kg is 0.

force is a type of tension. so 100N =2T. therefore for 8kg and 4kg string, tension will be50 each. so net force on 8kg block will be negetive. while for 4kg block net force will be 50-4g=10N. Therefore acceleration is 10/4=2.5m/s^2

Let F=2T=100NTension divides in 8kg and 4kg strings..: T=50N.For 8 kg block.8g acting downwards=80N80N > 50NSo, block remain at restAnd acceleration= 0..For 4 kg block.4g acting downwards=40N50N > 40N.So, 4kg block will move upwards..50-40=4a10=4aa=2.5 m/s2 . with this acc. 4 kg block moves upwards.
