As u r placed in a MNC company, if the pay scales and profile are good, then dont go for GATE
as i have seen mtech CS students generally go to companies like IBM,ORacle, etc ( i think application developers )
As per pay scale it varies 5-8 lakhs, but most of companies like to take BTech guys frm CS dept in IITs, it does mean m tech r not placed
Plzz go through communities of Mtech-IIT in orkut and mail them for gud suggestions
