Dear student

Galvanizing is a method ofrust prevention. Theironor steel object is coated in a thin layer of zinc. This stops oxygen and water reaching themetalunderneath - but the zinc also acts as a sacrificialmetal. Zinc ismore reactivethaniron, so it oxidizes in preference to theironobject.
