Two identical pith balls each of mass m and charge q are suspended from a common point by two strings of equal length l. The angle between the strings is 2theta and initially changes at a rate |d(theta)/dt=w (omega) due to charge leak at a very slow rate. Find the rate of charge leak(dq/dt).

Dear student,
Please find the answer to your question.

We have, Tcosθ = mg     → 1
Tsinθ = kq²/l²sin²θ           →  2
Divide eqn 2 by 1
tanθ = kq2/(mgl2sin2θ)
(sin3θ/cosθ)mgl2 = kq2
differentiate both sides w.r.t  t and replace dθ/dt by w → you will get dq/dt value

Thanks and regards,
Kushagra
