Dear Tapasranjan

Capacitance if ration of charge given  to   potential applied across them.

when you take onle one capaciter ( lowest capacitance)  and applied a potential(V) across them then  suppose it get a charge of q

so capacitance will be C = q/v

but if you now connect the same battery in a circuit of three capicatance in series.  then it will give the same charge to the circuit . since capictor are in series so they will get equal charge q .  but now in this case potential is distributed across the capictors and every capacitor have a potential difference less than  V

 so eqivalent capacitance  C' = q/V'

since V'< v so C' > C
