sir, electric field inside a conductor is 0. i do know that according to dv/dr=-E. v9potential0 inside conductor is same as that on surface but i feel it difficult to understand that when there is no electric field inside a conductor to do work how can we define potential there...... according to work=force.displacement...

Dear Amit,

remember two things, electric field arises from charged particle and no two lines can intersect each other.
inside a conducter there is no charge or flux, and if electric lines go inside the charged body they will have to cross each other which is not possible.

(electric line are those lines on which a compass shows a particuler direction,if two or more lines cross each other the compass have to show two or more direction at the same time which is not possible)
