The wheatstone bridge is said to be more sensitive when its voltmeter will be showing 0 deflection. that means it will be in  balanced condition.
the condition needs to be fulfilled is
R1/R3= R2/R4

The Wheatstone bridge is said to be the most sensitive when all the four resistances in the arm of Wheatstone bridge are equal to one another and also when galvanometer shoes zero deflection.
It is prove that the Wheatstone bridge is said to be the most sensitive when all the four resistances in the arm of Wheatstone bridge are equal to one another and also when galvanometer shoes zero deflection.

Wheatstone bridge is said to be most sensitive when the current passing through galvanometer is zero and hence galvanometer shows no deflection..and also the four resistnce in arms of the bridge are equal to one another

A Wheatstone bridge is said to be sensitive if it follows the following conditions:
  • The galvanometer must be very sensitive. Even for the passage of a very feeble current through the galvanometer, the deflection of the pointer should be distinct.
  • The four resistances (P,Q,R,S) of the four respective arms of the bridge as well as the resistance of the galvanometer G should be of almost equal value i.e. .P\approx Q\approx R\approx S\approx G

A Wheat Stone bridge is said to be sensitive if it produces more deflection in the gaivanometer for a small change of resistance in resistance arm.

  • The galvanometer must be very sensitive.
  • Sensitivity of galvanometer is defined as the current in micro ampere required to consume one millimeter deflection on a scale placed 1m away from the mirror.
  • Sensitivity will be large if for small value of current (I) q in large. To increase "q", we should decrease     C/BNA. So,
    (i) "C" should be small: For this long wire of small area of cross section should be used. But "C" constant     is too small.
(ii) Area of coil should is large: But this makes size of galvanometer large.
(iii) "N" Number of turns of coil should be increased: But this increases the weight of coil.
(iv) "B" should be large: This is achieved by:
    (a) Using powerful magnet.
    (b) Introducing iron core in coil.

  • The four resistances (P,Q,R,S) of the four respective arms of the bridge as well as the resistance of the galvanometer G should be of almost equal value .
