Hello Student,

\\\sum {1 \over R_i}={ 1 \over x} \\\sum {1 \over R_i}-{1 \over R_{removed}}={ 1 \over y} \\=>{1 \over R_{removed}}={ 1 \over x}-{ 1 \over y} \\=>R_{removed}={xy \over y-x}
