Sir, Can you please tell me something about the credits, what is that and how to earn credits in B.Tech?

Credits are assigned to the courses in the B. Tech based on the number of contact hours per week. Courses include include basically three category lectues, tutorials and practicals.
Lectures and Tutorials: One lecture or tutorial hour per week per semester is assigned one credit.
Practical/Laboratory: One laboratory hour per week per semester is assigned half credit.
Based on the new system in IIT, you have to complete 140 credits in 4 years to get an B. Tech degree.

Sir, with accordance to your reply to my previous question about the credit system in the IITs, I want to know what was the earlier credits requirement for the B.Tech degrees from the IITs?
