Engineering and medical are two opposite sides of a coin , so, if u want to do iit , thenm u have to take engg obviously . beacuse iit selection is based upon jee advanced and thats the engg exams . 
in medical u have aipmt , aiims , cmc vellore , etc colleges avaliable to you , 
but for iit , only engg is required .
