Hi

petroleum engineers are employed  in oil and gas extraction, professional, scientific and technical services, and petroleum refining. Major oil corporations, and innumerable small and independent oil exploration, production, and service companies are the employers for this profession.

Oil companies surely offer a good package for the field jobs, all the field jobs are nt in remote areas. For an enginner , office jobs are like process designing etc, but u still need to visit the sites and thats the part of the job.

Even a civil engg, has got the same job , mainly field jobs and on site. The jobs in really remote areas are too highly paid, but many students dont prefer that and go for better sites, like many are finely placed in mumbai , assam etc.
