yes there is a formula for no of geometrical isomers:
1. if the iupac name of the compound is same from both side then 2n-1 + 2n-1/2 if n is odd
2n-1+ 2n/2 if n is even
if the iupac name is diffrent form both sides the it will be 2n
here n is no of stereo centre, n can be pie bond, c=n, biphenyl system with bulkier groups,odd no of cumuleted diene... same formula is applicable for the optical isomers in modified form..
