consier a gaussian surface such as a cylinder of radius r and height l from the wire. Then the total flux passing through given point will be according to gauss’s law,
∫E.dA=total charge contained within the surface/epsilon naught, where dA=elementary surface area with outward normal as its unit vector. You are to take dot product of it with  E. Now since there is no field passing through the end faces of the cylinder it will contribute nothing to the flux. Leaving the curved surface as the sole contributor.
therefore,
2*pi*r*l*E=Flux=lambda*l/epsilon naught
