The circle R lies inside the circle S as shown in the fig. Hence,
Ar(circle R) = pi x rR2= 4 sq. inches
So,
rR= 2/(pi)1/2

Accordingly,

rS=2rR= 4/(pi)½

And area(circle S)= pi x rS2= pi x [4/(pi)1/2]2
= pi x 16/pi
= 16 sq. inches
