SIR WHEN 10,000 SEATS ARE NOT THERE IN IIT COLLEGES THEN WHY DO THEY GIVE 10,000 RANKS IN IIT JEE EXAM AS THE LAST 4-5 THOUSAND OF RANKS ARE OF NO USE ???

The ranks til 7000 get seats in the all IIT colleges .They give the extra ranks to give oppurtunity to some of the stundents in other 3000 ranks in case some students above 7000 are not able to join the IITs.IITs dont want any vacant seats so they give oppurtunity to some students by providing ranks till 10000
