i think equation of circle is x2+y2-4x+2y-8=0
center of circle (2,-2)  and radius =4
so for point(a-a) lie on the circle radius must be greater then distance between (a,-a) and (2,-2)
4> √(a-2)2 +(-a+2)2
4> |(a-2)|√2
2√2> |a-2|
2-2√2  <a<2+2√2
