For a pair of equations to have unique solution a1/a2 is not equal to b1/b2 , where a1 and a2 are coefficients of x and b1 and b2 are coefficients of y. 
Therefore, 2/k is not equal to 3/-6
So, 1/k  is not equal to 1/-4
Therfore, k  is not equal to -4.
So the following pair of equations will have a unique solution for all real values of k except for -4
