I have got 279 marks in JEE MAIN. I scored 967/1000 in board exams. My AIR is 1530. My friend scored 276 in JEE MAIN and 981/1000 in board exams. Her AIR is 369. Can you show me mathematically, why is there so much difference.

Hi,

Remember that your rank calculatiuon rely heavily on the marks you scored in Board /12th exams. This is the only reason for the difference. When you come a little down in the rank list, even one mark can make a huge difference.
According to the dtat that you provided the 3 marks lag that he got and the 14 marks advantage that he has in boards has a weightage of 60 and 40 % respectively.
This is the inly difference.
