From a syllabus point of view, both the boards have almost the same syllabus. Depending on what options you are looking for, you need to choose.Option 1 : You are looking for Engineering options only in Karnataka State (CET).Take PUC board. Easier to score than CBSE. You stand a better chance than CBSE candidates from a board marks perspective. [Board and CET weightage is 50/50]. You can always go for coaching to BASE/ACE or any of the people who specialize on CET coaching.Option 2 : You want to look for Medical options and open to going to a coaching institute. You have to prepare for NEET. Board exam marks do not matter. Take PUC so that you spend less time preparing for board exams. Go for coaching to Aakash or any of the institutes. They will prepare you for NEET. The benefit is that the time required to prepare for Boards will be less.Option 3 : You want to look for Medical options but dont want to go to a coaching institute.Take CBSE option as the syllabus will help you prepare for NEET much better than PUC.Option 4 : You are looking for Engineering options in IIT/NIT/BITS and open to coaching institutes.Same as Option 1. Take PUC. Go for Allen/FIITJEE for extra coaching.Option 5 : You are looking for colleges abroadGo for any IB Syllabus or CBSE. It is possible PUC may not be considered. E.g Singaport colleges.
