Karnataka CET – The Karnataka Common Entrance Test
Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bangalore conducts Karnataka Common Entrance Test (also known as Karanataka CET or K-CET) as an admission process for its professional courses. Karnataka CET is an entry point to the full-time medical, dental, engineering, technology and architecture programs conducted by government or private educational institutions and universities of Karnataka.
Please note that KCET examinations were previously scheduled for 29th and 30th April, which clashed with the dates of general elections. Hence, the date of examinations has now been shifted to 6th and 7th May. Those who have to write Kannada test for Horanadu Kannadigas will be able to take it on 8th May. Applicants appearing for architecture courses as well must also appear for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), which is conducted by the Council of Architecture.
However, applicants who only want to apply for architecture courses do not need to take Karnataka CET examinations. All candidates need to confirm their identity while taking Karnataka Common Entrance Examinations by affixing their left hand thumb impression on the application form as well as on the space provided on the OMR sheet.
Benefits of the Karnataka CET Exam
Karnataka CET providers a single-point entry point to all the professional and technical courses conducted by the colleges and universities in Karnataka. Recently, there were speculations that CET can be scrapped and scores in pre-university exams alone will be considered to assess the eligibility of students for admission in a particular course. However, the government has not taken an official decision to that effect yet.
