Who all should appear for the EAMCET Exams?
Candidates who are residents of Andhra Pradesh, who are appearing for or have cleared their intermediate exams from Andhra Pradesh, are eligible for EAMCET. They should have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology (depending on the stream) as subjects. However, there are certain provisions for non-locals too.
Details of the eligibility criteria and qualifying subjects for various courses are as follows:
Local and Non-local status of Candidates
Local areas are defined as:
- Andhra University or AU area that includes Nagarjuna University area,
- Sri Venkateswara University or SVU area that includes Sri Krishnadevaraya University area, and
- Osmania University or OU area that includes Kakatiya University area.
Local candidates include candidates who resided or studied in any educational institution in a local area for at least four consecutive years preceding the year when they sat for the qualifying exams. In cases where candidate has resided in one local area and studied in another local area, the candidate will be considered part of the local area where he/she has resided or studied for greater part of the seven consecutive years, or completed his qualifying examination.
Non-local candidates may include:
- Candidates who have lived in the state of Andhra Pradesh for a total of 10 years or more excluding their period of study outside the state,
- Children of individuals (mother or father) who have resided in the state of Andhra Pradesh for a total of 10 years or more excluding their period of employment outside the state, and
- Children or spouses of individuals who are employed in government, quasi-government institutions and universities within Andhra Pradesh at the time applications for EAMCET are submitted.
Qualifying Marks of Candidates
Minimum marks specified at the qualifying examinations as eligibility criteria are 40 out of a total of 160 or 25% marks at 10+2 level for general category students. No marks have been defined for Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes candidates applying only for reserved seats.
The exception to the rule are MBBS or BDS courses that demand that general category candidates should have an aggregate of at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at 10+2 level as well as EAMCET examination. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Class should have an aggregate of at least 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at 10+2 level as well as EAMCET examination.
Age Criteria for Various Courses
For the following courses, candidates must be at least 17 years old on 31st of December of the current year with the upper age limit of 22 years for general category students and 25 years for candidates of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes:
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B. V.Sc. & A.H.)
- Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B.Sc. (Ag.))
- Bachelor of Science in Horticulture (B.Sc. (Hort.))
- Bachelor of Fishery Science (B. F.Sc)
- Bachelor of Technology in Food Science and Technology (B.Tech (FS & T)
- Bachelor of Science in Commercial Agriculture and Business Management (B.Sc (CA & BM))
- Bachelor of Technology in Dairying (B.Tech. (Dairy))
- Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering (B.Tech (Ag. Engg.))
Candidates applying for the following courses must be at least 17 years old on 31st of December of the current year with no upper age limit:
- Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)
- Bachelor of Dental Science (BDS)
- Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery (BHMS)
- Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
- Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS)
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D)
For undergraduate courses in Pharmacy, candidates should be at least 16 years old by the time of admission or any other date as defined by the Common Entrance Test (CET) committee with no upper age limit.
No age criterion has been defined for the Bachelor of Technology in Bio-technology (B.Tech (Bio-Technology)) program.
Note:
- All candidates of Agriculture & Medicine stream will sit for Physics, Chemistry and Biology tests at EAMCET irrespective of their subjects in the qualifying examination.
- All candidates of Engineering stream will sit for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics tests at EAMCET irrespective of their subjects in the qualifying examination.
