Eligibility Criteria
Who all should appear for the DCE Entrance Exams?
Candidates who have cleared 10+2 from any school, college or institute that lies within the National Capital Territory of Delhi are eligible for appearing in Delhi CEE, if they have:
Secured 60% or more as an aggregate score in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics,
Have passed in each subject separately, and
Are between 17 to 25 years of age on 1st of October in the year they are appearing for the examinations.
However, students may apply for relaxation in minimum age up to one year to the Vice Chancellor at the time of admission.
Reserved category students are allowed following concessions in minimum marks to meet the eligibility requirements:
- Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) may appear for the exams if they secure 50% or above as aggregated in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 10+2 board examinations.
- Children or War Widows of Defence Personnel Killed or Disabled in Action as well as Physically Handicapped students may appear for DCE entrance exams if they secure exams 55% or above as aggregated in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 10+2 board examinations.
- Students from outside Delhi may also appear for Delhi CEE if they fulfill the eligibility criteria stated above. However, they should also have English in 10th or 12 as one of their core or elective subjects.
Reservation and Nomination in DCE and NSIT seats
In each institution:
- 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC),
- 7.5% seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST),
- 5% seats are reserved for children or war widows of Armed or Paramilitary Forces personnel who have been killed or disabled in action. These seats are allotted in following order of preference:
- First priority is given to widows or wards of defence personnel killed in action.
- Second priority is given to wards of personnel who are serving or once served defence forces and were disabled in action.
- Third priority is given to widows or wards of defence personnel who died in action in times of peace.
- Fourth priority if given to wards of defence personnel who were disabled in action in times of peace.
- 3% seats are reserved for Physically Handicapped (PH) students that are allocated in the following manner:
- 1% seats for students who have low vision or are blind
- 1% seats for those who are hearing-impaired
- 1% seats for students with loco-motor disabilities or cerebral palsy
Candidates will need to produce original documents to prove their eligibility for reserved seats at the time of admission. Seats for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are interchangeable while the seats that remain vacant in any category are treated as unreserved seats.
Besides the reserved seats, Government of India also nominates students for some seats at DCE and NSIT. Nominations are done in the following manner:
The Ministry of External Affairs, GOI, New Delhi nominates children or wards of Indian personnel posted abroad on Indian Missions for one seat over and above the normal total intake in both the institutions. However, these students should have passed an equivalent qualifying examination from outside India.
If the personnel have been posted in a country where educational facilities are not up to the mark and their children had to study in India, they may apply for nomination along with the certificate to that effect issued by the Indian Ambassador in the country.
Government of India also nominates candidates from friendly and developing countries for six seats in DCE and three seats in NSIT over and above the normal intake.
At DCE, nominations are done for one seat each in the following courses:
BE in Civil Engineering
BE in Computer Engineering
BE in Electrical Engineering
BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering
BE in Mechanical Engineering
BE in Production & Industrial Engineering
At NSIT, nominations are done for one seat each in the following courses:
BE in Computer Engineering
BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering
BE in Instrumentation & Control Engineering
