CHANCES OF AIEEE GOING ONLINE FROM NEXT YEAR
A Committee of National Institute of Technology (NIT)Directors have seen set up by the Government to find out the possibility of making the AIEEE exam an online expedition along with the regular pen and paper test. The Committee has to submit the report for the same by January 2010.
The committee has also decided that the weightage of results of class 12th exams will play an important in the entrance exam. According to the NIT Directors, the propagation and expansion of the coaching institutes is hampering the pattern of entrance in the NITs.
About 24,000 seats that were available in the Engineering colleges all over the country approximately 10lakh students appeared for the AIEEE exam. That included the IITs – Indian Institute Of Technology, State Engineering colleges, NITs and many other deemed universities. According to the NIT Council the number of NIT aspirants would increase in the coming years and an online exam would help in facilitating the process. This will give many students a chance to take the exam with ease.
