     WBJEE  |  Eligibility Criteria

Who all should appear for the WBJEE Exams?

Age Criteria:

Any Indian citizen who is at least 17 years of age on 31st of December of the current year may appear for the JEM examinations conducted by the WBJEE Board. However for Marine Engineering, the candidate should not be more than 20 years on the 1st of January of the current year.

Domicile Requirements:

Candidates seeking admission to government engineering, technology, medical and dental colleges as well as private medical and dental colleges should have been resided in the state of West Bengal for continuously 10 years on 31st of December of the previous year or their parents should be permanent residents of the state.

Academic Qualifications:

For Engineering & Technology courses: Except for Pharmacy and Architecture and Marine Engineering courses, general students need 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics taken together and 30% marks in English at 10+2 level. SC/ST candidates need 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together with individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Vernacular (or any other fifth subject).


For Marine Engineering Course: All candidates must have at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together at 10+2 level with at least 50% marks in English either in 10th or in 12th Standard to be eligible for this course.
For B. Pharm. Course: Pharmacy students need similar minimum qualifying marks as general Engineering and Technology courses, except that they should have Biology instead of Mathematics at 10+2 level. However, students who have Mathematics at 10+2 level may apply for the Pharmacy course at the Jadavpur University.


For B. Arch course: Architecture aspirants need to fulfill eligibility criteria for general Engineering and Technology courses as well as qualify the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture in New Delhi.


For Medical and Dental courses: General category medical aspirants need to secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together at 10+2 level as well as at Joint Entrance Examination of West Bengal. SC/ST category aspirants need to secure 40% marks at 10+2 level as well as the Joint Entrance Examination.


Note: Candidates selected for both the M.B.B.S. and B.D.S. courses have to furnish a bond of 3 years which states that they will serve anywhere after passing their final examinations.
