BITSAT Syllabus

BITSAT is based on the prescribed syllabus for 11th and 12th class students by NCERT. NCERT textbooks and BITSAT test preparation material available at Askiitians.com covers everything you need to learn and know for BITSAT in easy-to-understand format.

BITS website also offers a sample test for registered candidates. You can also find several model tests, practice tests and online sample BITSAT tests at Askiitians.com, once you register there.

Test Format and Duration of the BITSAT Exam

BITSAT is conducted online. It is only offered in English medium. Candidate sits in front of a computer and test assumes his or her familiarity with keyboard, mouse and basic computer operations. Questions are drawn from a large question bank in the server that has been developed by experts. Each question set is unique but is also at par with other sets that are generated in terms of difficulty level and content.

BITSAT exam is of 3-hour duration and there are no breaks in between. It has four sections and a total of 150 questions are generated.

The test format, with number of questions per section, is as follows:

Questions in BITSAT are objective-type, multiple-choice questions. Each question has four answers to choose from. Candidates can skip questions or go back to correct questions attempted before.

There is no time limit for an individual section of BITSAT and all 150 questions can be attempted in any order you like. Computer does not allow you to choose more than one option.

Candidates are generally expected to attempt 150 questions in 180 minutes of allotted time. However, if candidates have done and re-checked all their 150 answers without skipping any of them, they have an option to attempt 12 extra questions – 4 each from Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. Students are not allowed to correct 150 questions they answered before while attempting these 12 questions.

These 12 questions allow exceptional candidates a chance to score higher. However, since BITSAT has negative marking, one should not attempt these questions based on wild guess.
