All right! Finally, the JEE-Advanced 2014 examination is over leaving many aspirations of new technical birds at stake. These high-flying technical birds are keeping a hawk-eye vigil on every circumstance ahead of the judgment day (Results). But is it the way to get past all those post-JEE anxiety successfully without even acknowledging the answers of questions that pop every now and then?
The phase following the JEE Advanced examination is enigmatic. It often fills students with the happiness of getting past a milestone while at the same time, makes them worry about the results. Though we can’t do much about changing this natural human behavior, but we can at least try to get the answers of some frequently asked questions by engineering aspirants after JEE-Advanced examination and help ourselves ease the post-JEE stress a little. So here we go:
FAQ 1:
What are the expected cut-off marks for each category in JEE-Advanced 2014?
A CML or a Common Merit List for candidates will be prepared for students on the basis of their JEE-Advanced 2014 examination scores. Candidates must score at least 10% in each subject and 35% in aggregate to be on the CML. For other categories (OBC, SC, and ST), separate merit list will be prepared.
OBC (NCL) candidates must score at least 9% in each subject and 31.5% in aggregate to find a place in the OBC list.
SC and ST candidates must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate to find a place in their respective merit lists.
For PD merit lists corresponding to the GE, OBC, SC, and ST categories to be prepared separately, candidates must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate.
For preparatory courses, separate merit list will be prepared in case the total number of SC/ST/PD candidates in their respective merit list is less than 1.4 times the total number of seats available in the respective categories. To be on the list, candidates must obtain at least 2.5% in each subject and 8.75% in aggregate.
Candidates belonging to more than one category of relaxed norms will be considered for all categoriesthey are qualified for. There will be no separate waiting list for these candidates.
Candidates who have scored the same aggregate marks are awarded by the tie-break criterion in the various merit lists. Some of them are as follows: Higher rank for higher marks in Mathematics, followed by marks in Physics and same rank in case both the candidates have the same marks in each of the three subjects.
